Chantel & James Wedding

CHANTEL and JAMES HK wedding day Grand Haytt Hong Kong - 08

Chantel and James are both professional working people.  They are also a very sweet couple who couldn’t be more compatible with each other.  Chantel has such an easy-going nature, and it’s clear in the number of friends and family they have surrounding them that this couple is well-loved and supported.  Every wedding is special to us, and it’s even more enjoyable for us to see the guests enjoying themselves; Chantel and James’ wedding is no exception and it was lovely to see how much they were loved by their friends and family.

The Grand Hyatt hotel is famous for its Pool Side and for its Great Ballroom.  Chantel and James chose to have their wedding ceremony take place in the Pool House, and to celebrate their evening with a banquet in the Great Ballroom.  Sometimes a wedding is jam-packed full of traditions and activities, but Chantel and James’ decision to keep everything simple yet beautiful made this a very interesting and gorgeous wedding to shoot.  It was lovely to see Chantel and James enjoy their day and we wish them all the best with their journey together.

Jennifer & Kelvin wedding

jennifer & kelvin wedding day grand hyatt01
Jennifer’s wedding day is one that I’m sure that we will never forget.  A handsome groom; a beautiful, sweet bride.  This particular bride has some personality quirks that, over the time we’ve known her, we’ve come to embrace.  Jennifer is actually quite a serious person, but she also has a great sense of humour and is quite verbose; for these traits to be apparent in one person is quite a feat.

We will always remember the night before Jennifer’s wedding day, Jennifer was still busy sending comments to us with regards to her photo slideshow.  Even on the actual day of her wedding, Jennifer had more thoughts on things to change for the slideshow.  Of course, we understood where she was coming from as a bride wishing to have her perfect day go exactly the way she planned, if not better.  Luckily, I’m glad to say that Jennifer was very pleased with the slideshow that was played that night during her banquet!

On the wedding day itself, the logistics were actually quite simple, with door games in the morning, some time for wedding portraits and then a short wedding ceremony before the wedding banquet in the evening.  We have been the wedding photographers and wedding videographers for many more weddings that have been memorable for much more physically demanding reasons, but Jennifer’s wedding was one that was unforgettable for us because it was very emotional.

We’ll never forget the sentiment exchanged between the bride and her parents during the traditional tea ceremony; we felt how close the friendship was between the bride and her bridesmaids; we witnessed the deep bond between mother and daughter; even when the groom brought his bride back to his parents’ for the tea ceremony was awash with emotion.  In fact, the entire day was littered with tears and laughter; indeed, it was a very touching wedding for everyone involved (I may have had a tear or two in my eye during the bride’s lovely speech that night during the banquet).  It was rather like we’d taken part in a wedding of a dear friend.

We are very happy to have been the wedding photographers and wedding videographers for Jennifer’s big day.  We wish both the bride and groom all the best in the future.

the wedding on the News!

Elizabeth & Antonio wedding
We’re so happy to have been a part of this very successful wedding; even though it was a very stressful event, with so many VIP guests and a tight schedule, we were very happy with how everything turned out.  It was a perfect day!
Our gratitude to Elizabeth and Antonio for their appreciation of our work and for looking after our crew so well.  It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of your wedding – but after your wedding, I think it will be quite some time before we have another Hainanese chicken rice!
We’re also very honoured to have seen your wedding pictures published in the papers and we guarantee that there will be many more beautiful pictures to come!

Hong Kong Tatler interview

Every year, the Hong Kong Tatler publishes two very special issues of their magazine as a celebratory guide to the most beautiful and most luxurious weddings in Hong Kong. We look forward to the newly published issue every year; and we have been very fortunate to have been featured in past issues. This year is no exception. This new issue includes coverage of one of our luxurious weddings, Anna & Geoff wedding, that took place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, with its elegant garden theme and portraits taken in the beautiful country of New Zealand.

FRITZ & FIONA / Beauty & Elegance

There was one thing that really struck us when we first met Fritz and Fiona: Fritz’s parents absolutely adore Fiona, and Fiona’s parents love Fritz. From what we could gather, both families spent a lot of time together and for those of us who are hopeless romantics, it really does seem like Fiona and Fritz were destined to be together.

Everything about Fritz and Fiona is elegant. From the bridal party’s clothes to the beautifully orchestrated ceremony at St Margaret’s Church to the gorgeous décor of the evening banquet, there was poise and elegance abound – a wedding tailored to suit our happy couple.

Stereotypically, most grooms are not all that interested in the intricate details of the wedding ceremony. Fritz, however, is not your typical groom. In fact, he was the person most concerned with the particulars of the ceremony and rightly so – it is not often that we have seen the pews of St Margaret’s Church full to bursting, or the magnificent ceremonial procession that preceded the bride’s entrance into the church.

Sophistication and romance continued into the evening banquet. There were beautiful decorations, thoughtful wedding favours and speeches bringing laughter and tears. Fritz is a fantastic pianist and his surprise performance for his wife was a wonderful highlight to the evening.

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish Fritz and Fiona a beautiful new life together – and to thank them for such wonderful memories!

ELAINE & ANDREW / Seeing in Black & White

Weddings, especially Chinese weddings, are generally considered to be amazingly colourful affairs but in this instance, I’ve chosen a few photographs to highlight the use of black & white in wedding photography.

Elaine and Andrew are a very westernized couple and it was fitting for their wedding to prominently feature westernized traditions. With no games and a simple tea ceremony, the wedding ceremony was held at a Chinese-style church with a lot of rich history, held with a few of their close friends and family in attendance. The banquet, held at the Grand Hyatt, was dominated by a number of wonderful speeches by the people who know Elaine and Andrew the best.

Andrew isn’t the type to pose for photos – unless you count his fantastic Zoolander impression – and so this set of photos consists of less portrait poses and more of those with natural emotion. Black and white is fantastic for highlighting mood; colour can sometimes be distracting. For Elaine and Andrew, the simplicity of black and white shows just how much they enjoyed their special night, sharing the warmth as they are surrounded by the ones they love.
