Bear with us a moment whilst we take you back to the beginning of this story.
Ten years ago, we met at the Island Shangri-La hotel. At that time, we didn’t know each other very well but we were working the same wedding. If I remember correctly, there was even a little bit of a ‘debate’ that day regarding the recording of an audio track. To be clear, we were the photographers on that day and Maria was there with her live band. Ten years ago, hiring a live band for your wedding was still quite a new thing; there were lots of ideas back then and I remember there being a string quartet that day too.
Over the years, we slowly became really good friends. This friendship has been a part of our lives for the last twelve years and we are very lucky to have kept such a real friendship going in this industry for such a long time. Maria is one of our greatest friends; this might sound a bit cheesy but we have one of those relationships where we just know what the other is thinking without saying a word. Whether it is on a professional or personal basis, we have had each other’s backs and we feel so, so lucky to have had such good support. Many times, Maria has given us brilliant advice during our difficult days and we are very grateful for her presence in our lives.
Over the years, we’ve noticed that whilst Maria’s live band plays great music, the sound of Maria’s laughter beats it every time. To have Maria and Horace ask us to shoot their tenth anniversary portraits is a great honour. Obviously they’re now older (and with different figures than twelve years ago!), but they’re still such a sweet and happy couple that any photograph we could take of our dear friends would be beautiful.
We hope Maria and Horace continue to be happy and to continue bringing us great music. And Maria – don’t quit the wine… you’re at your best when you’ve had a glass or two!
