When one thinks of Beijing, one usually conjures up the feeling of old China. There is a lot of history in this city but it is actually also quite modern; a treasure trove of art and such a beautiful location to shoot one’s wedding portraits. Those of you who follow our blog know that we’ve been to Beijing quite a bit before for pre-wedding portraits but this particular trip was very, very different.
Holly is a very active yet elegant bride – this is fact. How do we know this? Simply by watching her climb the Wall of China in her beautiful wedding gown. And when we say ‘climb’, we actually mean it in every sense of the word. Visitors to the Wall of China know that it’s a bit of a trek at the best of times. Dressed to the nines and conquering the non-touristy, relatively untouched parts of the famous Wall – we photographers know a little bit about shooting in difficult places but here, we really have to applaud Holly for her enthusiasm and can-do attitude.
Holly really is a beautiful bride. She’s a beautiful person, inside and out. A Volunteer, the brief period we spent with her really opened our eyes to the state of the world beyond our little corner. We don’t always acknowledge it, but we truly are the fortunate ones and we’d like to thank Holly for reminding us of that.
Standing beside Holly is our groom, Leslie. It’s easy to see why they’re such a good match. Leslie is always talking, always laughing. We’ve seen him happy, we’ve seen him drunk, we’ve seen him simply enjoy life. He’s the type of guy who can eat a handful of spring onions on bread and love it.
We’d like to thank Holly and Leslie for their hospitality during our trip. They organised for us to stay in a hotel just below the Wall of China. Each of the rooms had a different theme, designed by world renowned architects. Surrounded by the beauty of rural China, plied with good food and great company, it was such a memorable trip. We had so much fun that our shoot went by too quickly.
Congratulations to Holly and Leslie, we wish you our very best!
