Shooting prewedding portraits overseas always sounds so exotic and yes, we are lucky enough to get to go to some amazing places around the world with our happy couples. And we never tire of discovering new places where we can get our creative juices flowing. However, sometimes, there really is no place like home. For Janet and Kelvin’s prewedding portraits, we explored all the nooks and crannies of Hong Kong. The locations we ended up in weren’t anything special – and uncommon for a couple looking for the more traditional Hong Kong feel to their portraits.
Nothing spectacular comes to mind when it comes to the locations we chose. And the beauty of that is that we experienced the unexpected. Turning something ordinary, like a tree on the side of a road, into an entire forest with just a change of camera angle or a particular way of lighting takes imagination, observation and of course, a couple willing to try anything.
It just goes to show that it doesn’t have to be complicated to create magic. There was very little touchup needed on these photos, because we already had the perfect moment captured.
Special thanks go to Janet and Kelvin, who really did go beyond the norm during this shoot. There’s not many a bride who will go climbing trees and getting their hands dirty for the sake of art!
