ROSHNI & JAS / Expecting The Unexpected 20/7/2010 1:12:04 | weddings

Roshni and Jas¡¦ wedding celebrations took place over the course of two days. We were at the Intercontinental on the first day; the second day¡¦s festivities were held at the Peninsula. Both are beautiful venues, with luxurious settings suitable for a beautiful couple.
Experience has taught us that brides are usually very particular about keeping to the day¡¦s schedule. Roshni, however, was refreshingly relaxed about timeframes and preferred to let things happen on the fly; as different as the approach was to our usual method of working, the effects that this easy-going atmosphere created an interesting mood for us to work with and produced some fantastically unexpected situations.
Roshni and Jas¡¦ wedding was a perfect east meets west crossover, with western traditions blending seamlessly with Indian culture, presenting us with some interesting creative challenges as well as well as widening our horizons. For example, the bride¡¦s request not to have any photographs of the happy couple kissing was a curious challenge that required some thought, but a challenge that we relished as it provided us with the opportunity to think outside the box. Another example would be the catering; as accustomed as we, the crew, are to the traditional Chinese nine-course banquet beginning with the suckling pig, it was something different, and special for us to experience an occasion catered entirely for vegetarians.
Many thanks to Roshni, Jas and their families for letting us join in on such a special occasion; it truly was a beautiful wedding.

Whether male or female, Indian features are strikingly beautiful ¡V all dark eyes and long lashes that make for great focus in a photograph.

YVONNE & TOM / Shanghai (Part I) 30/6/2010 2:18:49 | engagement

Tom is someone with very high standards. He brings high expectations to everything he does and that's a quality we admire and respect. Yvonne is undoubtedly beautiful. We first met her as a bridesmaid - in fact, she's been a bridesmaid for a few of our brides and we've had the opportunity together to know her along the way. Now that she's a blushing bride herself, we feel privileged to be a part of her wedding.
We're no strangers to Shanghai and each time we love finding new places and new ideas to stretch our creativity. This trip was no exception, but on this trip we discovered even more special locations, including Tom's own hotel, his house and access to a golf course.
An unexpected opportunity rose when it began raining as we were shooting. We used this to our advantage, coming up with spontaneous ideas that made the most of our situation. Even we were surprised by the results of our shoot and we're very happy with the finished products.

WEDNY & JEREMY / Wedding 28/5/2010 16:48:34 | weddings

One of the first words to come to mind regarding Wendy and Jeremy is ¡¥fun¡¦. From the enthusiastic way Jeremy and his groomsmen got into the games the bridesmaids had prepared for them, to the tables of sweets awaiting the guests at the banquet, to the various games they played on the happy couple during the banquet ¡V their entire wedding day was full of fun and surprises.
During the break between the ceremony and the banquet, the bridal party relaxed with foot massages in the hotel ¡V it was a great chance to witness the camaraderie and sense of fun between the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Both Wendy and Jeremy were fantastically amenable to our suggestions ¡V both of them really good sports during the portrait shooting, making the day enjoyable for us and hopefully memorable for them.
Wish Wendy and Jeremy all the best with their marriage ¡V may it always be full of fun and laughter!

WINNIE & VINCENT / Melbourne 27/5/2010 4:54:50 | engagement

Choosing Melbourne for pre-wedding portraits was very appropriate -rather like the couple themselves, the city was full of sunshine and our trip was filled with laughter. Vincent and Winnie are two people who like to eat and laugh - spend any time with them and it's easy to see how much they love each other.
Taking advantage of the fine weather, many of the locations we shot at were outdoors. A beach, downtown, the city, a vineyard - wherever we went, we found that the people there seemed to be infected by the happy couple. It's rare in these times when everybody is busy with their own lives to be affected by people they don't know. Perhaps if we always have a little happiness within ourselves, we can bring happiness to those around us.
Our thanks to Winnie and Vincent for this valuable lesson and for a wonderful trip.

SYLVIA & ROGER / Amazing Wedding 28/4/2010 23:58:50 | weddings

No less than six hundred guests attended Sylvia and Roger¡¦s wedding ceremony in the Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt. Not only did those six hundred guests arrive on time, but by the time they were seated and ready to greet the bridal party, the aisle ¡V pristine, white, and lining the length of the ballroom ¡V was still in immaculate condition.
Amazing.
It was clear that everybody at this wedding respected the occasion and loved the happy couple. Sylvia and Roger themselves are a couple with strong religious beliefs ¡V beliefs that allow them to love not only their friends and family, but to spread that love to the rest of the world.
Amazing.

JOANNE + JOSEPH + BROWNIE / WEDDING 19/4/2010 22:56:28 | weddings

On the morning of Joanne and Joseph¡¦s wedding, the weatherman announced a cool temperature of 12 degrees. The sun had yet to come up and when we arrived at the Grand Hyatt at 5.45am, the lobby area was empty. Despite the dark skies and the early, early start, the crew were eager to get the day started.
Credit to where credit¡¦s due - the groom and his groomsmen were definitely in good spirits - not even plunging their feet into ice-cold water on such a cold day dampened them.
The ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt¡¦s Pool House. One of the highlights of the day was the entrance of Brownie, leading the way in a cute pageboy outfit. Another, rather unexpected highlight was the bouquet toss, when the lucky recipient caught the bouquet after it bounced off her head. It seems that there are some things in life that are just destined to be!
One challenge for this particular wedding was the editing of the day¡¦s highlights. With two videographers, a very busy morning and only three hours to edit, it was a rush to get done ¡V but I¡¦m pleased to say that we made it with time to spare¡K
It was definitely a non-stop emotional rollercoaster ride of a day ¡V for the bridal party and for the crew. It wasn¡¦t until half past midnight, when the day drew to a close for us, that we started to feel the effects of such a long day¡K the newlyweds however, didn¡¦t seem to be affected, continuing onto the after party. It seems happiness gives you boundless energy!
All the best to Joanne, Joseph and Brownie!

JOYCE & ROY / Light Fantastic! 14/4/2010 19:22:47 | engagement

I haven¡¦t spent such a long time shooting in the studio for so long, it was a great experience to be able to spend some quality time doing some back-to-basics photography. With the willingness of expectant couple Roy and Joyce, I was given the freedom to experiment with some creative lighting ¡V I¡¦m very happy with the final pieces and wanted to share some of them with you.

SABINA & IGOR / Boston, New Hampshire autumn 8/4/2010 23:23:29 | engagement

In last year autumn, Susan took a short trip to Boston for a pre-wedding photo shoot. Chosen especially for the stunning scenery of a New Hampshire autumn, including falling leaves and beautiful backdrops, this trip created lots of special memories and many fantastic photos.

KAREN & ALAN / Sanya Wedding 10/3/2010 10:15:25 | weddings

One day we¡¦re in winter jackets, scarves and thick jumpers ¡V the next, we¡¦re standing on a beach in Sanya in t-shirts and shorts. We¡¦ve been very lucky to escape the busy schedule we have in Hong Kong for a bit to shoot Karen and Alan¡¦s wedding in sunny Sanya ¡V and take a bit of a belated break.
Karen wears her heart on her sleeve ¡V she laughs and she cries and she lets you know exactly what she feels. Very considerate of our needs, very understanding of our feelings, Karen made our trip to Sanya so much more enjoyable and if that¡¦s the way she treats her friends, then I¡¦m not surprised that so many people flew from all over the world to be at her wedding.
Alan is a very quiet man; he can give the impression that he is slightly obtuse, but in reality, he is very thoughtful and very kind. Throughout our portrait shooting, Alan had a cheerful smile on his face despite the fact that we were out in the sweltering sun and he was wearing his tuxedo. Sweat soaked the tux jacket, but Alan kept on smiling. Some have portraits shot for the final product ¡V it was easy to see that Alan¡¦s priority was to enjoy the experience for what it was.
I¡¦m happy to report that Karen and Alan¡¦s day was a success. The ceremony took place around noon under the sweltering heat ¡V all the guests sat under umbrellas to protect them from the sun and the resulting explosion of colour really brought out the tropical theme to the wedding. We got great reviews for the day¡¦s highlights and the photos. The relaxed schedule was a refreshing change and we really enjoyed ourselves ¡V even the hot weather didn¡¦t bother us too much!
