Shooting At ¡¥The World¡¦s Local Bank¡¦
29/7/2009 11:42:42 | video

Apart from weddings, we also shoot a lot of corporate videos. As a general rule, the feel of the finished product is usually a little formal and a lot reserved. We usually shoot around the subject¡¦s busy working day, which means restrictions on time and location.

With this particular shoot for HSBC, they wanted to try a more informal style for an in-house video introducing Francesca ¡V a new department manager ¡V to the rest of the staff. We still had to work around a busy working day and had our own schedule to keep but the shoot itself was friendly and relaxing.

It helped that both the PR department and Francesca herself were willing to try out our ideas. Originally from London and having travelled quite a bit, Francesca was definitely what they call ¡¥a people person¡¦ who had appeared in front of the camera before and had no problem presenting the friendly yet managerial image we wanted to capture. She also graciously let us film in her apartment for a more personal touch.

If you happen to work at HSBC and haven¡¦t seen the finished product yet, log on to the company website and take a look. We¡¦d love to hear your feedback!

JACKI & GUSTAF / wedding
26/7/2009 0:39:54 | weddings

Quiet, conscientious Gustaf and straight-forward, honest Jacki are simply made for each other, with a connection of which others can only ever dream. In addition, they have a large network of good friends for support, whose enthusiasm for Jacki and Gustaf¡¦s big day made the event even more memorable.

Maybe it¡¦s because the Chinese find it difficult to portray emotions that we sometimes shy away from touching occasions, perhaps even put on an air of indifference. Not so with Jacki who, on the day of their wedding, had two expressions on her face ¡V a big smile or tears. Even a simple speech had her smiling through her tears, an act that let us feel the depth of their love for each other.

Angela & Jeff / Pregnancy Portrait
Nature¡¦s Inspiration
12/7/2009 11:46:20 | pregnant portrait

Pregnancy portraits offer a different set of challenges each time I shoot. I am often restricted by the number of the poses we can use, given the expectant mum¡¦s limited movements and we almost always shoot in the confines of a studio, so the greatest challenge is how to create a beautiful, original image with what we have.

And what we have is light.

Against a plain background so as not to distract from the subject, I use lighting to create mood and tone. Every time I shoot an expectant couple, I experiment with different lighting ¡V I am often inspired by the couple themselves: how they interact with each other and with their unborn child.

Angela and Jeff are previous wedding clients of ours. Angela is quiet and gentle, completely the opposite to Jeff, who is dynamic and very chatty. For their shoot, they brought their own baby clothes and we took many photos. A lot of them ¡V as pregnancy portraits are in general ¡V are very intimate, mostly for private collection. I¡¦d like to thank Angela and Jeff for letting us share their photo in our blog ¡V if you¡¦d like to see more, please contact us for further details.

ALICE AND JEFF / Hong Kong Wedding
A Day Of Elegance¡K
11/7/2009 0:54:02 | weddings

Alice and Jeff¡¦s wedding took place at the Hong Kong Island Shangri-La Hotel, a day that we¡¦ll remember as being very loving and affectionate. Alice and her bridesmaids were obviously very close and made it very easy for us to capture their natural fondness for each other.

Alice ¡V a very slim, pretty young woman ¡V was a pleasure to shoot. I vividly remember the elegant black evening dress she wore at the banquet that evening.

YVONNE & ALFRED / San Francisco engagement
7/7/2009 0:31:16 | engagement

The impression of San Francisco that I take away with me is of a very windy city, with the weather constantly changing. We arrived in the city at midnight and stayed with Alfred, where he made us our first meal of instant noodles which immediately made us feel at home.

Yvonne and Alfred live in San Francisco. They became our tour guides and took us many places where we ate lots of food. One of my fondest memories is of eating cheesecake. Thanks to Yvonne and Alfred for treating us so well and letting Susan and I stay with them, rather like friends.

The shoot itself was fun and very much enjoyed. Luckily, the weather behaved itself, with lots of beautiful sunshine ¡V rather like Yvonne¡¦s smile.
