WINNIE & ANDREW / Details, Details, Details (Part I)
3/9/2010 13:32:26 | weddings

A Hong Kong bride and a London groom celebrating their nuptials in Bali is what we'd call quite an international affair. Winnie - always happy with a sunny disposition - wasn't stressed at all on the run up to the ceremony, but her emotions got the better of her (and of us) as she spoke her vows. Andrew is a fairly quiet man and wasn't nervous at all as he relaxed by the pool and had a spa treatment before the ceremony began. It wasn't until he was dressed in his suit that anyone would realise it was his wedding day! From the words of family and friends, Andrew places great emphasis on family and friends. We will never forget his lovely speech in Cantonese.

Winnie & Andrew thought of everything. Every care was taken with each little detail of the celebration. From the set-up of the venue to the personalised robes in each bridesmaid's gift bag, it was clear that not only was the day important to Winnie and Andrew, but each person there to celebrate with them was of equal importance. Beautifully crafted signs, gorgeous flowers, everything was imported from either Hong Kong or the US to make an amazing venue just that little bit more perfect. After the ceremony, the guests released white balloons into the sky. Winnie was a vision as she walked down the aisle in her beautiful wedding gown, and the red number in which she danced her first dance with Andrew was absolutely fantastic.

Planned to the very last detail, Winnie and Andrew's day couldn't have gone more according to plan. Even the weather, which had seemed a little shaky before the wedding ceremony was to begin, was perfect as Winnie and Andrew exchanged their vows. The party went on well into the night, with plenty of food, wine and fireworks to round off a perfect day. Their guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did we!

ROSHNI & JAS / Expecting The Unexpected
20/7/2010 1:12:04 | weddings

Roshni and Jas¡¦ wedding celebrations took place over the course of two days. We were at the Intercontinental on the first day; the second day¡¦s festivities were held at the Peninsula. Both are beautiful venues, with luxurious settings suitable for a beautiful couple.

Experience has taught us that brides are usually very particular about keeping to the day¡¦s schedule. Roshni, however, was refreshingly relaxed about timeframes and preferred to let things happen on the fly; as different as the approach was to our usual method of working, the effects that this easy-going atmosphere created an interesting mood for us to work with and produced some fantastically unexpected situations.

Roshni and Jas¡¦ wedding was a perfect east meets west crossover, with western traditions blending seamlessly with Indian culture, presenting us with some interesting creative challenges as well as well as widening our horizons. For example, the bride¡¦s request not to have any photographs of the happy couple kissing was a curious challenge that required some thought, but a challenge that we relished as it provided us with the opportunity to think outside the box. Another example would be the catering; as accustomed as we, the crew, are to the traditional Chinese nine-course banquet beginning with the suckling pig, it was something different, and special for us to experience an occasion catered entirely for vegetarians.

Many thanks to Roshni, Jas and their families for letting us join in on such a special occasion; it truly was a beautiful wedding.

Whether male or female, Indian features are strikingly beautiful ¡V all dark eyes and long lashes that make for great focus in a photograph.

WEDNY & JEREMY / Wedding
28/5/2010 16:48:34 | weddings

One of the first words to come to mind regarding Wendy and Jeremy is ¡¥fun¡¦. From the enthusiastic way Jeremy and his groomsmen got into the games the bridesmaids had prepared for them, to the tables of sweets awaiting the guests at the banquet, to the various games they played on the happy couple during the banquet ¡V their entire wedding day was full of fun and surprises.

During the break between the ceremony and the banquet, the bridal party relaxed with foot massages in the hotel ¡V it was a great chance to witness the camaraderie and sense of fun between the bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Both Wendy and Jeremy were fantastically amenable to our suggestions ¡V both of them really good sports during the portrait shooting, making the day enjoyable for us and hopefully memorable for them.

Wish Wendy and Jeremy all the best with their marriage ¡V may it always be full of fun and laughter!

SYLVIA & ROGER / Amazing Wedding
28/4/2010 23:58:50 | weddings

No less than six hundred guests attended Sylvia and Roger¡¦s wedding ceremony in the Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt. Not only did those six hundred guests arrive on time, but by the time they were seated and ready to greet the bridal party, the aisle ¡V pristine, white, and lining the length of the ballroom ¡V was still in immaculate condition.

Amazing.

It was clear that everybody at this wedding respected the occasion and loved the happy couple. Sylvia and Roger themselves are a couple with strong religious beliefs ¡V beliefs that allow them to love not only their friends and family, but to spread that love to the rest of the world.

Amazing.

JOANNE + JOSEPH + BROWNIE / WEDDING
19/4/2010 22:56:28 | weddings

On the morning of Joanne and Joseph¡¦s wedding, the weatherman announced a cool temperature of 12 degrees. The sun had yet to come up and when we arrived at the Grand Hyatt at 5.45am, the lobby area was empty. Despite the dark skies and the early, early start, the crew were eager to get the day started.

Credit to where credit¡¦s due - the groom and his groomsmen were definitely in good spirits - not even plunging their feet into ice-cold water on such a cold day dampened them.

The ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt¡¦s Pool House. One of the highlights of the day was the entrance of Brownie, leading the way in a cute pageboy outfit. Another, rather unexpected highlight was the bouquet toss, when the lucky recipient caught the bouquet after it bounced off her head. It seems that there are some things in life that are just destined to be!

One challenge for this particular wedding was the editing of the day¡¦s highlights. With two videographers, a very busy morning and only three hours to edit, it was a rush to get done ¡V but I¡¦m pleased to say that we made it with time to spare¡K

It was definitely a non-stop emotional rollercoaster ride of a day ¡V for the bridal party and for the crew. It wasn¡¦t until half past midnight, when the day drew to a close for us, that we started to feel the effects of such a long day¡K the newlyweds however, didn¡¦t seem to be affected, continuing onto the after party. It seems happiness gives you boundless energy!

All the best to Joanne, Joseph and Brownie!

KAREN & ALAN / Sanya Wedding
10/3/2010 10:15:25 | weddings

One day we¡¦re in winter jackets, scarves and thick jumpers ¡V the next, we¡¦re standing on a beach in Sanya in t-shirts and shorts. We¡¦ve been very lucky to escape the busy schedule we have in Hong Kong for a bit to shoot Karen and Alan¡¦s wedding in sunny Sanya ¡V and take a bit of a belated break.

Karen wears her heart on her sleeve ¡V she laughs and she cries and she lets you know exactly what she feels. Very considerate of our needs, very understanding of our feelings, Karen made our trip to Sanya so much more enjoyable and if that¡¦s the way she treats her friends, then I¡¦m not surprised that so many people flew from all over the world to be at her wedding.

Alan is a very quiet man; he can give the impression that he is slightly obtuse, but in reality, he is very thoughtful and very kind. Throughout our portrait shooting, Alan had a cheerful smile on his face despite the fact that we were out in the sweltering sun and he was wearing his tuxedo. Sweat soaked the tux jacket, but Alan kept on smiling. Some have portraits shot for the final product ¡V it was easy to see that Alan¡¦s priority was to enjoy the experience for what it was.

I¡¦m happy to report that Karen and Alan¡¦s day was a success. The ceremony took place around noon under the sweltering heat ¡V all the guests sat under umbrellas to protect them from the sun and the resulting explosion of colour really brought out the tropical theme to the wedding. We got great reviews for the day¡¦s highlights and the photos. The relaxed schedule was a refreshing change and we really enjoyed ourselves ¡V even the hot weather didn¡¦t bother us too much!

CONNIE & NAM / wedding
When Life Hands You Lemons¡K
5/3/2010 22:46:43 | weddings

¡K make lemonade!

Look up ¡¥easy-going¡¦ in the dictionary and you¡¦ll find a picture of Connie and Nam. On a day where tradition dictates that an element ¡V however small - of stress and worry follow the bride and groom around as they try to stick to a tightly-run schedule, Connie and Nam were a refreshing example of how to roll with the punches and how to just really enjoy their day, no matter what.

Of course, a wedding wouldn¡¦t be a wedding without laughter and tears, and there was plenty of both on Connie and Nam¡¦s day. From the early morning preparations to the evening farewells, the whole day was a bubbling pot of excitement and surprises. We didn¡¦t know what amazing thing was going to happen from one moment to the next¡K

¡KTears in the eyes of Connie¡¦s father as he gave his daughter away, matching those in Connie¡¦s.

¡KNam¡¦s reaction when he turned to surprise his new wife with a beautiful bouquet of flowers¡K only to discover Connie had already left the stage.

¡KThe couple practicing the steps of their first dance out in the foyer, only minutes before the real thing¡Kand then restarting their first dance when it all went a bit wrong on the dance floor.

¡KNam¡¦s speech, including how he treasured the time he spent that morning, brushing his teeth for the last time as a bachelor.

In all honesty, we¡¦ve been a part of many weddings where everything has run perfectly to schedule, where the bride and groom are well-prepared and where the first dance is faultless and amazing. Those weddings are always a pleasure to be involved in ¡V but sometimes, it¡¦s nice to experience something a little off track, but no less wonderful.

Joyce & Chris / Celebration in Phuket
19/1/2010 22:26:01 | weddings

We were very lucky to have been able to take part in Joyce and Chris¡¦ wedding celebration in Phuket, Thailand. We had a fantastic few days out there with the wedding party and really got to know everyone very well.

Some of our most memorable moments came courtesy of the weather. Fantastic sun gave way to torrential rain, a mere fifteen minutes before the ceremony was to take place ¡V we worried with Joyce and Chris, their family and friends, wondering whether the rest of the day would be a washout.

It wasn¡¦t. Beautiful sunshine appeared just in time for Joyce and Chris to exchange vows and everyone shared a sigh of relief. The stormclouds gathered again for the fireworks display¡K again the sky cleared as the first rocket shot into the air.

We got the opportunity to create some fantastic underwater shots when the bride had no objections to jumping, fully-dressed in her wedding gown, straight into the deep end of a swimming pool. This made for a fabulous image and we have many memories from our time in Phuket that we will always cherish.

Many thanks to Joyce and Chris for such a wonderful, enjoyable few days and a heartfelt congratulations to the happy couple!

BALI WEDDING / The Bulgari Resort
11/12/2009 10:23:44 | weddings

We were fortunate enough to be invited to take part in a wedding at the Bulgari Resort, Bali.

The Bulgari Resort, Bali occupies a secluded plateau on the southern tip of the Jimbaran peninsula. It is famous for the cliffs that fall dramatically to the Indian Ocean and boasts spectacular views of sunrise and sunset. It offers private access via funicular to a pristine stretch of beach.

Rich mahogany woods and luxurious furnishings create a warm and calming environment with sweeping views. Private and elegant, the Resort combines modern opulence with traditional materials and design. The Bulgari Resort, Bali offers the perfect setting for an intimate romantic wedding.

We flew by private jet, a first for our crew and the excitement was contagious. When we arrived, the beauty of the surroundings only added to our moods. Our clients had pre-booked the entire resort, guaranteeing privacy for our clients¡¦ wedding party. It was going to be an amazing few days.

The wedding itself started at 5pm, when the sun was just beginning its descent into the Indian Ocean. The hotel¡¦s decor was inspired, making use of its natural surroundings to create a fantastic backdrop to the ceremony. I¡¦m especially pleased that the video of the morning¡¦s highlights was pretty well received by all of the guests and the reception continued on well into the night as the guests partied until late.

It was an experience of a lifetime, one that we will never forget.

KEVIN & MICHELLE / Wedding
Red¡K..
17/10/2009 11:22:38 | weddings

Red is¡K

¡K Luck.

¡K Life.

¡K Love.

The Chinese revere the colour red for its auspiciousness. It represents prosperity and joy. It signifies health and happiness. To the world over, red symbolises passion and love.

I¡¦ve written before that Kevin and Michelle are a passionate, romantic couple, always in search of perfection. The day of their wedding was no exception, with everything planned right down to the last detail, from the traditional tea ceremony and exchange of vows to the more personalised touches that made Kevin and Michelle¡¦s wedding truly special. The only part they hadn¡¦t factored in was the arrival of our crew at Kevin¡¦s house ¡V I think it¡¦s safe to say that it¡¦s the first time that I¡¦ve turned up in the morning when the groom was still asleep!!

It¡¦s easy to see how much thought and care went into Kevin and Michelle¡¦s wedding; among all the special moments that took place that day, the most memorable ones for me include a song written by Kevin which he performed that evening for Michelle, Kevin¡¦s mum cooking a couple of course for the evening banquet (which we were unlucky enough to have missed out on trying!) and the newly-wed couple tripping the light fantastic on the dance floor.

All these memorable moments and more culminated in an extraordinary day for an extraordinary couple with whom we¡¦ve become fast friends. I¡¦d like to take this opportunity to wish Kevin and Michelle all the best for the future.
