Apart from weddings, we also shoot a lot of corporate videos. As a general rule, the feel of the finished product is usually a little formal and a lot reserved. We usually shoot around the subject’s busy working day, which means restrictions on time and location.

With this particular shoot for HSBC, they wanted to try a more informal style for an in-house video introducing Francesca – a new department manager – to the rest of the staff. We still had to work around a busy working day and had our own schedule to keep but the shoot itself was friendly and relaxing.

It helped that both the PR department and Francesca herself were willing to try out our ideas. Originally from London and having travelled quite a bit, Francesca was definitely what they call ‘a people person’ who had appeared in front of the camera before and had no problem presenting the friendly yet managerial image we wanted to capture. She also graciously let us film in her apartment for a more personal touch.
