EVA & THOMAS / Romance In The Ring 13/8/2010 15:06:42 | engagement

We¡¦ve had the pleasure of knowing Eva for a little while now and every time we see Eva, the first thing that strikes you is that she¡¦s always so well put together. She¡¦s tough, astute, elegant and beautiful; it¡¦s easy to believe that this blushing bride holds high standards for herself and those around her.
A love for Thai kickboxing brought Thomas and Eva together. They met at the local centre and it only seemed appropriate to shoot a set of pre-wedding portraits in the place that started it all. Thomas was unwell during our shoot and was fairly quiet, but he definitely perked up when we arrived at the boxing centre ¡V it was obvious that the sport and the centre were important to both Thomas and Eva.
Aside from kickboxing ¡V and of course, Thomas ¡V Eva¡¦s other great love is shoes. As in many, many shoes. We¡¦ve had couples who bring things to the shoot that illustrate their hobbies and interests. When we arrived to shoot at Eva¡¦s house, she made a great suggestion of including as many pairs of high-heeled shoes as possible ¡V creating a rather unique twist on the traditional pre-wedding portrait.

We also took advantage of their swimming pool to take a few photos; even though Eva was a little embarrassed, we caught the light at sunset and created some fantastic portraits of which we think Eva and Thomas should be proud.

YVONNE & TOM / Relaxing At Home (Part II) 10/8/2010 11:08:14 | engagement

We are always on the lookout for new and special locations to shoot pre-wedding portraits, and one of the places that we discovered when we were in Shanghai with Yvonne and Tom was, in actual fact, Tom¡¦s house. Based on our previous experiences of Shanghai, we would never have believed that such a modern, beautiful house would be situated here.
Designed by Tom himself, the house definitely had the feel of an interior design showroom with a Tom Dixon mirror ball and a Carl Hansen & Son wishbone chair¡K¡K, and yet still exuded the wonderfully warm feeling of a home for a newly wedded couple. However, despite being enamored by the amazing house, for these portraits we focused less on the environment around us and more on the facial expressions of the happy couple in their lovely home.

As mentioned in our previous post, the unexpected rain ¡¥showered¡¦ us with fantastic opportunities to create some very sweet photographs.

GILBERT & EMEN / Creating Originality 3/8/2010 12:37:49 | engagement

At first glance, a casual observer could be forgiven for believing Gilbert and Emen were a solemn couple befitting the typical image of their chosen profession as lawyers. To those who delve further into the people behind the law degree, Gilbert and Emen couldn't be further from the stereotype.
Gilbert loves the outdoors. He's into scuba diving, basketball and photography. During our shoot in the studio, Gilbert and Emen came fully prepared with lots of props to make a typical studio shoot more interesting. We also shot some portraits on a yacht where, again, Gilbert and Emen eschewed the more traditional poses for the original.
Emen is quite the artist herself and for the afternoon, we booked a session of artjamming. Armed with unlimited paints and several blank canvases, Gilbert and Emen went to town with their creativity- having a blast and producing some fantastic paintings for posterity.

YVONNE & TOM / Shanghai (Part I) 30/6/2010 2:18:49 | engagement

Tom is someone with very high standards. He brings high expectations to everything he does and that's a quality we admire and respect. Yvonne is undoubtedly beautiful. We first met her as a bridesmaid - in fact, she's been a bridesmaid for a few of our brides and we've had the opportunity together to know her along the way. Now that she's a blushing bride herself, we feel privileged to be a part of her wedding.
We're no strangers to Shanghai and each time we love finding new places and new ideas to stretch our creativity. This trip was no exception, but on this trip we discovered even more special locations, including Tom's own hotel, his house and access to a golf course.
An unexpected opportunity rose when it began raining as we were shooting. We used this to our advantage, coming up with spontaneous ideas that made the most of our situation. Even we were surprised by the results of our shoot and we're very happy with the finished products.

WINNIE & VINCENT / Melbourne 27/5/2010 4:54:50 | engagement

Choosing Melbourne for pre-wedding portraits was very appropriate -rather like the couple themselves, the city was full of sunshine and our trip was filled with laughter. Vincent and Winnie are two people who like to eat and laugh - spend any time with them and it's easy to see how much they love each other.
Taking advantage of the fine weather, many of the locations we shot at were outdoors. A beach, downtown, the city, a vineyard - wherever we went, we found that the people there seemed to be infected by the happy couple. It's rare in these times when everybody is busy with their own lives to be affected by people they don't know. Perhaps if we always have a little happiness within ourselves, we can bring happiness to those around us.
Our thanks to Winnie and Vincent for this valuable lesson and for a wonderful trip.

JOYCE & ROY / Light Fantastic! 14/4/2010 19:22:47 | engagement

I haven¡¦t spent such a long time shooting in the studio for so long, it was a great experience to be able to spend some quality time doing some back-to-basics photography. With the willingness of expectant couple Roy and Joyce, I was given the freedom to experiment with some creative lighting ¡V I¡¦m very happy with the final pieces and wanted to share some of them with you.

SABINA & IGOR / Boston, New Hampshire autumn 8/4/2010 23:23:29 | engagement

In last year autumn, Susan took a short trip to Boston for a pre-wedding photo shoot. Chosen especially for the stunning scenery of a New Hampshire autumn, including falling leaves and beautiful backdrops, this trip created lots of special memories and many fantastic photos.

WINNIE & HENRY / Pre-wedding Portrait Craziness 12/2/2010 1:21:42 | engagement

Chocolate, Dexter, Miu miu, Cake¡K. - no, these aren¡¦t the nicknames of our happy couple, although we did find ourselves calling out these names quite often on our pre-wedding portrait shoot with Winnie & Henry. Usually during a shoot like this, we have two main stars, the bride and the groom. For this particular shoot, we had eight sharing the limelight; Winnie, Henry and their six ¡V yep, half a dozen ¡V excitable, adorable dogs.
Needless to say, the shoot was full of fun and completely unpredictable, as well as a crazy experience. Keeping track of six mischievous dogs running around in an open studio proved to be quite the challenge; by the end of the shoot, we had confused ourselves with so many names!
Still, it was a fun kind of crazy and the finished results were definitely worth the temporary madness!

KEVIN & MICHELLE / in Shanghai 26/1/2010 22:13:36 | engagement

The Big Event that took us to Shanghai was actually the sixtieth birthday bash of Mr Kwong Senior ¡V Kevin¡¦s father. Whilst we were there, we took the opportunity of our beautiful surroundings and a particularly photogenic couple to take some post-wedding portraits.
If you¡¦re a regular to our blog, you¡¦ll find the names Kevin and Michelle familiar ¡V that¡¦s because this is the fourth time they¡¦ve been the subject of our portraits; from pre-wedding to wedding day to post-wedding, they¡¦ve been fantastic about letting us stretch our creative muscles and we¡¦ve been able to travel quite a bit doing it.
This particular shoot was so enjoyable and we found many new locations in a place to which we¡¦ve been many times. With Kevin and Michelle who, by now, are pros at this kind thing, we were continually pushed to try new things, see Shanghai with new eyes and craft new ideas and styles during our few days shooting. We hope this will continue as we head to Okinawa, Brazil after that and after that, onto the rest of the world!
