TAMMY & BILLY / Fairy Tale Road, Germany
2/2/2012 4:20:27 | engagement

It's hard to believe that we were only in Germany for a few days considering we visited so many different places and did so much in the short time we were there. Thanks to the excellent organisation skills of Billy and Tammy - we had our own personal chauffeur and our own personal tour guide - we experienced so much more than we could have imagined. Good company, delicious food, time to take in the sights - it was more like a holiday than work. We visited the big cities and the small villages and had such a fun time.

We were also lucky enough to spot not one, but two rainbows during our time there. It's said that rainbows bring good luck to those who see them, so let's hope that this good luck follows Billy and Tammy as they start their married life together.

Each time we go on a trip with our couples, we come away with wider horizons, amazing photos and new friends. Thanks so much to the happy couple for such a great experience - we'll have to do it again sometime!

CHRISTINA & ALBERT / A heartfelt promise
23/11/2011 18:00:01 | weddings

If you're a frequent visitor to our blog, you'll recognise this happy young couple as the protagonists of previous entries. We had the privilege of shooting their pre-wedding portraits in Shanghai and New York, and we also had the pleasure of shooting their wedding day as well. Christina and Albert chose to celebrate their special day at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, holding their ceremony at the Pool House and their evening banquet in the Grand Ballroom.

We've been in this business for a while now and have witnessed to many a different ceremony; it is always a more emotional experience - for both the couple and for their loved ones - when the couple decide to write their own vows. Albert's heartfelt words to Christina was one of the more memorable moments of this special day; like the groom, it was funny and charming and so beautifully written that it brought tears to the eyes of many of their guests. An emotional summary of their relationship thus far and a solemn promise of their future together as a married couple.

The banquet itself was a grand celebration with many beautiful photos and videos incorporated into the night's entertainment. At times, it felt like we were shooting three weddings simultaneously because Christina, Albert and their respective parents loved taking photos - tiring for our team, but utterly worth the end results. We came away with a lot of photos that bring back so many memories of that special day and feel really lucky to have been able to be a part of such an important milestone in Christina and Albert's lives.

One other memory worth mentioning - Christina and Albert's first dance. We had a little preview during our pre-wedding shoots but who knew Albert had such fancy footwork as he led Christina across the dance floor of the Grand Hyatt ballroom. It was such a treat to watch and again, we'd like to thank Christina, Albert and their families for the opportunity to share in their celebration.

KAREN & CARLOS / ´I¬K¤s©~
14/11/2011 1:18:35 | weddings

Arriving at the legendary Fuchun Resort ´I¬K¤s©~ in Hangzhou, China, is like taking a step back in time and into another world. Situated along the Hangzhou's Fuchun River at the very same site depicted in the famous painting 'The Dwelling In The Fuchun Mountains', the Fuchun Resort is stylish, simple yet elegant and the perfect getaway spot for a private, intimate wedding. Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to be invited to such beautiful surroundings by a beautiful young couple.

From the very beginning of our meetings with this young couple, we've known Carlos to be a very busy man. Almost all of our discussions prior to the wedding itself have been with his now-wife Karen, and it was a pleasure getting to know Karen as she prepared for her big day. Spend any time with her and you'll find that Karen is an attentive, thoughtful bride. Not only did she personally handle the style and logistics of her wedding, she also spared the time and effort to attend to the crew's needs as well - going so far as to provide entertainment on the very first night we were in Fuchun. It was an absolutely thrilling experience to see the famous 'Impressions of the West Lake' and we're very thankful to Karen and Carlos for organising such a treat for us.

The actual big day had a very tight schedule and with Karen and Carlos choosing not to have pre-wedding portraits taken prior to their wedding celebrations, we found ourselves on a bit of a tight schedule. Even though the weather could have been better, we took full advantage of the short time that we did have and the scenic surroundings we were in and ended up with some wonderful photos. This trip was such an unforgettable experience for all members of our crew and we'd like to take this opportunity to wish Karen and Carlos a long and happy future together.

Thank you to both Karen and Carlos for their kind permission to share some of their photos on our blog. Understandably, they requested that we only show some of the more scenic photos rather than any close-ups and so the photographs we have selected feature more of the beauty of the grounds of the Fuchun Resort.

Many brides choose to wear western-style wedding gowns for their wedding portraits but for this particular shoot, Karen and Carlos decided to embrace their surroundings and choose the traditional Chinese wedding dress for their portrait shoot. Even though we could have had better weather for the shoot, we used what lighting we did have to create some beautifully traditional images reminiscent of old Chinese paintings.

The welcome dinner on the night prior to the wedding day was held beside the swimming pool. Again, keeping to theme of the wedding, the guests were asked to attend in traditional Chinese dress and the elaborate decor of the poolside banquet only enhanced the Old China atmosphere.

The actual wedding banquet was held outdoors with some beautiful table placements and brightly coloured lanterns adorning the trees.
