AGNES &RYAN / Making Banyan Tree History
31/1/2011 17:38:02 | weddings

Agnes and Ryan¡¦s wedding ceremony itself was held at the Banyan Tree Hotel & Resort on the very next day ¡V a small affair on a private little beach with all of their loved ones in attendance. Under the baking sun, our lovely couple exchanged their vows in a beautiful ceremony, with an extra special surprise by the Banyan Tree Hotel as they presented Agnes and Ryan with a banyan tree of their very own ¡V complete with name plaque!

As the very first couple to have their wedding ceremony conducted at the Banyan Tree Hotel & Resort, all the staff at the hotel were very excited about the event, going to great lengths to make sure that the day went smoothly. They made sure that the private beach on which the ceremony was to take place was closed to the rest of their guests and that everything was perfect.

These few days of work and play would never have been quite so enjoyable if not for the lovely people involved. Aside from our happy couple, special thanks goes to new friend Chris, make-up artist extraordinaire ¡V we look forward to more fun times and even more laughing until we cry!

Surrounded by close friends and family, the entire day was truly a memorable experience and the firework display at the end of the evening was a fantastic way to cap it all off. As for more details on the banquet, I¡¦m afraid some of the things that happened that night will have to remain a mystery to our readers as this is very much a PG-rated blog! Suffice it to say, there was a lot of laughter, a lot of alcohol, plenty of singing and raucousness to make the night ¡V and the entire trip ¡V an unforgettable experience!

AGNES & RYAN / Koh Samui, W
26/1/2011 11:39:41 | engagement

In the midst of winter, with its unrelenting winds and biting winds, there¡¦s no better way to cheer up than to find ourselves surrounded by sun, sea and glorious sand. Blue skies, white clouds and thirty-degree-plus weather awaited us on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, Thailand, where Agnes and Ryan were to hold their wedding celebrations. Leaving all traces of winter behind us on the tarmac of Hong Kong International airport, we jetted off for sunnier climes a little further South.

We spent our first full day touring the island for pre-wedding portrait backgrounds. Having done extensive research prior to our arrival, Agnes and Ryan were the perfect guides and we visited various different locations during our very enjoyable shoot.

Many of our regular blog-readers will already be familiar with our cherished partnership with W Hong Kong. We were fortunate enough to be able to arrange a photoshoot at the newly established W Retreat in Koh Samui ¡V talk about entwined fate! The W Retreat is everything you could possibly want in terms of luxury and comfort; cool and trendy, with fabulously friendly staff who provided such a warm welcome, even though we weren¡¦t actually registered guests!

Touring the small island, we found so many different locations to explore and shoot; it seemed like we traveled all over Koh Samui as we visited several beaches, a quaint little fishing village and of course, the W Retreat. The locals were friendly and we had such a fantastic day of shooting with our happy couple.

HAYLIE & JEFF / Shooting In The Sun
17/1/2011 22:26:37 | engagement

Haylie and Jeff's pre-wedding portraits were taken last year but we have only decided to post them now because they have just recently gotten married. Jeff found a most novel way of guaranteeing ease and comfort for our shoot - he booked us into the St Regis Bali Resort for the entirety of our trip.

Lots of couples choose to go to lots of different locations for their pre-wedding portraits and we end up with some pretty contrasting shots. Haylie and Jeff preferred to stay in the surroundings of the St Regis Resort, but even though we did not venture out very much, we found many sites within the Resort in which to shoot. Our main focus is always the happy couple and in this instance, we also managed to include some fantastic shots of their environment.

Haylie and Jeff strike me as a young, happy couple. Haylie is very photogenic, easy to shoot and shoot well. In fact, not much touch-up was needed for their portraits and the overall feel of their portraits is very pure and natural.
