ELAINE & ANDREW / Seeing in Black & White 28/9/2010 11:48:08 | weddings

Weddings, especially Chinese weddings, are generally considered to be amazingly colourful affairs but in this instance, I¡¦ve chosen a few photographs to highlight the use of black & white in wedding photography.
Elaine and Andrew are a very westernized couple and it was fitting for their wedding to prominently feature westernized traditions. With no games and a simple tea ceremony, the wedding ceremony was held at a Chinese-style church with a lot of rich history, held with a few of their close friends and family in attendance. The banquet, held at the Grand Hyatt, was dominated by a number of wonderful speeches by the people who know Elaine and Andrew the best.
Andrew isn¡¦t the type to pose for photos ¡V unless you count his fantastic Zoolander impression ¡V and so this set of photos consists of less portrait poses and more of those with natural emotion. Black and white is fantastic for highlighting mood; colour can sometimes be distracting. For Elaine and Andrew, the simplicity of black and white shows just how much they enjoyed their special night, sharing the warmth as they are surrounded by the ones they love.

MR & MRS WONG / A Bite Of The Big Apple 22/9/2010 0:10:49 | engagement

An exciting ballgame, great shopping experience, lots of delicious food ¡V you¡¦d be forgiven for thinking we¡¦d gone to New York for a vacation. And you wouldn¡¦t be too far off the mark ¡V we were in New York to shoot pre-wedding portraits with our happy couple Tanya and Mr Wong ¡V and enjoyed our trip so much it was like taking a holiday with old friends.
We were very lucky ¡V even though it had rained prior to our arrival, for the two days of our shoot, the sun was out in full force. Tanya and Mr Wong both have very sunny dispositions ¡V perhaps their happiness was contagious!
As the old saying goes, time flies when you¡¦re having fun. In fact, we had so much fun that we forgot about things like eating and how long we¡¦d been shooting. It was such a fantastic experience and a big thanks goes to Mr Wong for arranging so many activities to entertain us and for being our lovely New York guide.
We are very proud to be a part of their big day.

WINNIE & ANDREW / Details, Details, Details (Part I) 3/9/2010 13:32:26 | weddings

A Hong Kong bride and a London groom celebrating their nuptials oversea in Bali is what we'd call quite an international affair. Winnie - always happy with a sunny disposition - wasn't stressed at all on the run up to the ceremony, but her emotions got the better of her (and of us) as she spoke her vows. Andrew is a fairly quiet man and wasn't nervous at all as he relaxed by the pool and had a spa treatment before the ceremony began. It wasn't until he was dressed in his suit that anyone would realise it was his wedding day! From the words of family and friends, Andrew places great emphasis on family and friends. We will never forget his lovely speech in Cantonese.
Winnie & Andrew thought of everything. Every care was taken with each little detail of the celebration. From the set-up of the venue in a villa to the personalised robes in each bridesmaid's gift bag, it was clear that not only was the day important to Winnie and Andrew, but each person there to celebrate with them was of equal importance. Beautifully crafted signs, gorgeous flowers, everything was imported from either Hong Kong or the US to make an amazing venue just that little bit more perfect. After the ceremony, the guests released white balloons into the sky. Winnie was a vision as she walked down the aisle in her beautiful wedding gown, and the red number in which she danced her first dance with Andrew was absolutely fantastic.
Planned to the very last detail, Winnie and Andrew's day couldn't have gone more according to plan. Even the weather, which had seemed a little shaky before the wedding ceremony was to begin, was perfect as Winnie and Andrew exchanged their vows. The party went on well into the night, with plenty of food, wine and fireworks to round off a perfect day. Their guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did we!
