ELAINE & JUSTIN / ALILA

Those of you lovely followers of our blog will know that this isn't our first visit to Bali and that we've always enjoyed coming to this beautiful part of the world. This particular trip with Justin and Elaine was special to us because they took us to a beautiful part of a beautiful location - somewhere that is actually quite unknown to Hong Kong because it takes at least two hours travel from the airport to get to. Where is it? The gorgeous Alila Villa Resorts. It really is an amazing location for portraits and for a wedding. Our couple, Justin and Elaine, decided to hold their wedding celebration and to shoot their portraits here and, as I'm sure you can see in the images, it was absolutely the right decision.

Justin is a very thoughtful person - and very giving. It was clear to see how much he thought of his friends and family, how much he cared for them. For each of his many groomsmen, he gifted a personalized drinks flask with their initials embossed on the surface and with all the paraphernalia an overseas wedding needs to be transported, it is a wonder that he remembered the small details.

The speeches during the banquet were equally wonderful - and a lot of emotion was in the air. Many of the speeches ended in tears and the evening ended with lots of bangs - literally, as the sky exploded with fireworks.

Congratulations to Justin and Elaine - and thank you for all your kind arrangements for our crew.

YVONNE & ALEX / A Modern Tradition

Those of you lovely followers of our blog know that we're quite regular visitors to Beijing - our pre-wedding shoots there are always fun and exciting. For Yvonne and Alex, however, we were in Beijing for the first time shooting an actual wedding day and it was an experience that we will always treasure.

Firstly, our thanks goes to Yvonne and Alex for all their kind arrangements and the opportunity to share their big day. We had previously been part of their Hong Kong celebrations but Beijing was where the Main Event took place. There were so many new areas to explore - it's always good when you have someone who knows the area and Yvonne had definitely done her research. We took portraits in her family's Siheyuan - famous in Bejing for their roots in history and wonderfully traditional features, including a well-kept courtyard. We also took a little walk on the trendy side with a meander through the 798 Space at Dashanzi Art District - a spacious, avant-garde area for the growing art and culture community in Beijing. It was very, very hot and we kept it quite casual, but the photos turned out really well.

As Alex said in his speech, his beautiful bride Yvonne was pretty much the driving force behind the whole celebration. So much attention went into the details, from the flower arrangements to the namecards on the table to the surprise that Yvonne arranged for her guests on the night of the banquet in the form of a very special Chinese drum performance. The welcome dinner at a restaurant overlooking The Forbidden City to Qianmen Gate provided a fabulous start to the celebrations and the live-band discovered by Alex kept the guests dancing well into the evening. Many of their friends and family were in attendance and through all the speeches, it was clear that this young couple were very much loved.

We had such a good time in Beijing and really appreciate the opportunity to attend a Beijing celebration. Our very best wishes to Yvonne and Alex!

CAROL & JOHNSON

If you're familiar with any kind of wedding tradition, you know that having bridesmaids and groomsmen are a bit of a must. In Carol and Johnson's case, it was clear how much they treasured their friends and family to have a big bridal party with no less than eighteen bridesmaids and groomsmen. It definitely made for a fun march-in at the evening banquet and all of their friends got so involved in Carol and Johnson's big day.

The biggest memory we have of the day is the fun and the laughter. It was clear that Carol and Johnson treasured their friends and family and we really felt how deep their friendships were.

It goes without saying that Johnson's bride, Carol, was beautiful that night. The banquet which was held in InterContinental Hong Kong, was amazing with beautiful decor and a special touch was included with a different brand of alcohol for every table. With over fifty tables, that's a lot of alcohol - we've never seen that many different types of whisky!

One of the best highlights of the evening was the first dance - fun and great to watch as Carol and Johnson strut their stuff across the dance floor. There were emotional and funny speeches, a great same day edit video and some truly gorgeous photos. All in all, a truly wonderful day and even though, as Johnson says, Carol has a bit of a goldfish memory, I'm sure they can agree that this is one day that no one will ever forget.

Congratulations Carol and Johnson!
