JULIA / On Being Happy 3/2/2010 20:48:21 | pregnant portrait

In my experience, expectant mothers who come to me for pregnancy portraits are usually a little nervous about the shoot. Julia is one of the exceptions to this ruleˇK and once you meet her, you can see why.
From a blushing bride to a radiant mother-to-be, every time we see her, Juliaˇ¦s always had a smile on her face. The shoot itself was fun, full of laughter and definitely belongs in my happy memories.
I truly believe that Juliaˇ¦s cheerfulness and optimistic outlook on life will create a wonderful, warm environment in which to bring up a child, and hope that Iˇ¦ll be present at more future happy moments.

A Token of Beauty 1/8/2009 1:43:51 | pregnant portrait

Pregnancy is beautiful. Itˇ¦s not surprising that a lot of clients come to me for a keepsake of this time and most are willing to be photographed nude or topless. As a photographer, these particular shoots are all about bodyshape and the way I can use light to control the mood of the image. I focus on the shape of the body, the gestures of the expectant mother and as a result, many of the photographs I take are for private viewing only.
In this particular photos, however, I feel that both the pose and the way the subject was lit produced a beautiful image that I wanted to share with you. If youˇ¦d like to create some of your own, please let us know.

Angela & Jeff / Pregnancy Portrait Natureˇ¦s Inspiration 12/7/2009 11:46:20 | pregnant portrait

Pregnancy portraits offer a different set of challenges each time I shoot. I am often restricted by the number of the poses we can use, given the expectant mumˇ¦s limited movements and we almost always shoot in the confines of a studio, so the greatest challenge is how to create a beautiful, original image with what we have.
And what we have is light.
Against a plain background so as not to distract from the subject, I use lighting to create mood and tone. Every time I shoot an expectant couple, I experiment with different lighting ˇV I am often inspired by the couple themselves: how they interact with each other and with their unborn child.
Angela and Jeff are previous wedding clients of ours. Angela is quiet and gentle, completely the opposite to Jeff, who is dynamic and very chatty. For their shoot, they brought their own baby clothes and we took many photos. A lot of them ˇV as pregnancy portraits are in general ˇV are very intimate, mostly for private collection. Iˇ¦d like to thank Angela and Jeff for letting us share their photo in our blog ˇV if youˇ¦d like to see more, please contact us for further details.
